TMD has unearthed the holy grail for MEGADETH fans, an extremely rare live audience recording of MEGADETH performing “Peace Sells” during soundcheck at Traxx in Detroit, Michigan on January 10, 1986. The lineup is Dave Mustaine on lead vocals, lead/rhythm guitar, David Ellefson on bass, backing vocals, Chris Poland on lead/rhythm guitar along with the late great Gar Samuelson on drums.
The classic “Peace Sells” track comes off the groundbreaking Heavy Metal album entitled Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying, which was the band’s second studio record. It was released by Capitol in November of 1986.
It is the final album to feature Gar Samuelson on drums, who later died in 1999 from liver failure.
