Rocket: Where were you born and raised?

Justin: I was born in Windsor, ON. It’s a border town across Detroit, MI. But my family moved to a small town of 2300 called Forest when I was 2 and that’s where I grew up and then moved to London, ON in late 1994.

Rocket: Do you come from a big family?

Justin: No, just my parents, my younger sister and myself.

Rocket: What first drew you to playing music?

Justin: My dad. He has been a bass player since he was in high school and he was very much a product of late 60s and 70s rock. So I grew up surrounded by great music from Zappa to Zeppelin and Hendrix to The Beatles.

Rocket: Who are a few of your biggest guitar playing influences of past and present?

Justin: A few of my influences from the past are Scott Ian, Chuck Schuldiner, Billy Corgan, Ritchie Blackmore, David Gilmour, Mike Clark. As far as present players I would say they are more of an inspiration than an influence & they include the guys in Shadows Fall, Mastodon, Darkest Hour and Bloodbath.

Rocket: What kind of guitars are you currently playing live and in the studio?

Justin: My main guitar is a ’93 Gibson SG that I bought in ’94, tuned to E flat with 11-52 med gauge Dean Markley strings. I do have a fender stratocaster that I use for clean parts in the studio and a really dark sounding profile acoustic.

Rocket: What kind of amp rigs?

Justin: My main amp is a 2 channel 100 watt Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier that I bought in 2000 with a mesa recto 4×12 slant cabinet.

Rocket: How many hours on average would you say you practice playing guitar each day?

Justin: I have currently been on unemployment so I play a lot. At least 4-6 hours a day plus band practice 2-3 times a week.

Rocket: How does NOTHING LEFT FOR TOMORROW go about writing music? Does it always start with a riff?

Justin: It always starts with a riff. typically I play the guiatr until I come up with something I like and put it together with other riffs I have but more often then not I will write a song over a couple of days based off of 1 riff.

Rocket: Who are some of the record labels out there that you would love to see your band sign with?

Justin: Obviously it would be great to signed with Metal Blade or Century Media but SPV and Peaceville put out a lot of great metal. I would be content on being signed with anyone who would support us 100%.

Rocket: I like to have fun with this next one. What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you while
performing on the stage?

Justin: When our last drummer first joined he had a shitty drum kit that fell apart on him on stage and he choked bad. It was in front of all our friends and family, it was crushing.

Rocket: With all the great metal releases so far in 2009, what albums have been your personal favorites?

Justin: I recently bought Shadows Fall “Retribution” and it kicks ass. Kreator “Hordes of Chaos” is also great so is Mastodon “Crack In The Skye” and Cannibal Corpse “Evisceration Plague”.

Rocket: What are some of the upcoming shows for NOTHING LEFT FOR TOMORROW?

Justin: We are mostly playing locally. We are concentrating on writing a new cd with the goal of recording in February 2010 and then going on the road with some brand new music.

Rocket: Where do you see yourself in ten years from now?

Justin: In 10 years from now, it would be great to have NLFT signed and well known and I would like to produce up and coming metal/heavy bands.

Rocket: Thanks very much for rocking this out with me. Best of luck with it all moving forward. Go ahead and give thanks out to any of your friends, family and supporters.

Justin: I would like to thank you to anyone who appreciates the music we create, you rock!! Thank you!
