Q&A With James Hetfield: “NO” To More Gaga!

The frontman for METALLICA has apparently had enough of the entire METALLIGA joke that has become his band’s achilles heel since the infamous ‘mic fail’ incident that plagued their much hyped Grammys collaboration with the queen of pop. James Hetfield recently answered some questions from journalist Claudio Vergara of the Chilean newspaper La Tercera, conducted before METALLICA’s April 1 appearance at Lollapalooza Chile in Santiago. Although Hetfield admits that Lady Gaga’s “energy was very, very exciting”… when also asked if he would want to collaborate with Lady Gaga again, he responded: “No. But even just talking with her, being around her, her energy was very, very exciting. She has lots of ideas, and she likes to push the boundaries like we do. So it was a good fit.”

Lemmy Kilmister – The Final Interview

TMD Rocks!

Freddy Villano of BassPlayer.com posted the following interview on Dec 23, 2015.

When MOTÖRHEAD first started popping out albums in the late ’70s, it probably seemed implausible that the band would be around 40 years and 22 albums later. And yet, here they are. According to Lemmy—who embodies the sex, drugs, and rock & roll ethos more honestly than anyone alive besides Keith Richards—Motörhead’s career is defined by “sheer, dogged, pig-nosed fucking persistence and refusal to listen to the evidence.”

Lemmy was born Ian Fraiser Kilmister on December 24, 1945. Though it has never been confirmed nor denied, legend has it that the nickname “Lemmy” came from the phrase, “Lemme (lend me) a quid until Friday,” because of his habit of borrowing money...

Interview With METALLICA Drummer Lars Ulrich

TMD Rocks!

The A.V. Club spoke to METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich about the 2017 Grammys, his band’s performance with Lady Gaga, and what a constantly shifting music industry means for Ulrich and his group. This interview was conducted two days after the Grammy awards show. A lot of speculation has begun about a potential collaboration between two of popular music’s biggest superstars, with Ulrich himself going on the record to other media outlets around the time of this Q&A, making it known he has indeed invited Gaga to join the band out on tour as their new co-lead singer, when her hectic schedule permits. No official word has come out from the band’s camp if Gaga will make another live appearance with the legendary metal act when they tour America.

Nick Menza’s Final Interview

TMD Rocks!

The late drumming legend who died on the stage from heart failure at the age of 51 in 2016 discussed with The Wave NW – in what is believed to be his final interview ever – the difference between the “raw energy” when MEGADETH recorded albums in the studio live compared to the way they get made today. Here are a few excerpts from the discussion:

Nick: “We rehearsed Rust In Peace for a year, then we went into the studio and we cut it live. There’s no click track on that record – it’s really raw and has a lot of energy. Rust In Peace is the milestone album, because it’s not using the click, it’s about being tight. You’ve got to go into the studio and be prepared.

The next record, Countdown To Extinction, is done to click and it’s overdubbed...

Philip H. Anselmo’s First Longform Interview Since Dimebash

anselmocover1
TMD

Like so many huge mistakes, this one was made in Hollywood. Phil Anselmo was in town for the Dimebash, an annual benefit concert held to commemorate the life and music of Anselmo’s former Pantera bandmate “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, who was gunned down onstage 12 years ago in Columbus, OH. By many accounts, emotions were running high—this was, after all, a tribute to a massively talented and beloved musician who was murdered while doing what he loved—and the booze was flowing freely. But it was all for a good cause: Proceeds from the show would go to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund...

ROCKET Interviews Guitarist Brian Tatler Of DIAMOND HEAD

TMD Rocks!

Legendary NWOBHM band, DIAMOND HEAD, needs no damn introduction. If you claim to be a fan of this type of music and don’t know the immense influence they’ve had on two of the biggest names in the history of metal, METALLICA and MEGADETH… you probably have not been a headbanger for very long. Their most famous song, “Am I Evil?”, undoubtedly ranks as one of the best heavy songs ever written. Sure, they are no household name like METALLICA, and never sold a ton of records, but perhaps this is all about to change finally. In 2014, DIAMOND HEAD hired a talented new singer named Rasmus Bom Andersen, and then next cut their first full length album in nine years. The self titled record is simply going to blow away American fans once it releases in North America on June 3, 2016.

THE METAL DEN...
