VIO-LENCE have revealed that they will enter Trident Studios in Pacheco California on January 18th to begin tracking their new EP. The band will be tracking the outing with that studio’s owner, Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Exodus) behind the boards. The group announced the news via social media.

Vio-lence formed under the name Death Penalty in 1985 which they changed to Violence, and then the two-tiered logo with hyphen forced the name change to its permanent form.

The original line-up was Jerry Birr on vocals, Phil Demmel and Troy Fua on guitars, Eddie Billy (brother of Testament’s Chuck Billy) on bass, and Perry Strickland on drums. This line-up appeared on the ’86 Eastern Front: Live at Ruthie’s Inn 2LP compilation with the song “Gutterslut”...

OBSCURA – Begin Recording New Album

German progressive/technical death metal band OBSCURA have officially commenced recording for their next album and follow-up to 2018’s Diluvium.

Drum tracking has been taking place at S.T.R.E.S.S. Studio in Graz, Austria and production is expected to continue at Studio Fredman in Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordström.

OBSCURA are a German technical progressive death fusion band founded in 2002 by guitarist/vocalist Steffen Kummerer. The band caused a stir when they – out of nowhere – toured as support for SUFFOCATION on their European tour in 2006 and when they independently released their debut album ‘Retribution’ that same year.

In late 2007 – after several line-up changes – OBSCURA announced drummer Hannes Grossmann (ex-NECROPHAGIST) and fretless bass player Jeroen Paul...

A message engraved on Vinnie Paul‘s grave marker reads: “Don’t ever think it’s not a good time, if you do think it’s not a good time. A good time is a good time, a bad time is a bad time, and a wonderful time is irreplaceable. Hellyeah!”

DEAD CROSS – New Music Video Premiere

DEAD CROSS — featuring current and former members of Faith No More, Slayer, The Locust and Mr. Bungle — have released a video for “Skin of a Redneck,” a track from the band’s 2018 self-titled EP. The clip was directed by Kay Otto and is available above.

Dead Cross emerged out of a series of impractical schemes, fallen-through plans, and last-minute musical experimentation. Shows were scheduled before a single song was written, fans were formed before even one show was played.
